Cheuk-yee Wong, soprano, is a voice and flute educator who dedicates in music education and scholarship. She has been part-time lecturer of HKBU BMus. course, vocal coach of the HKBU choir, online voice education columnist and research assistant of the Music Department of HKBU. Her qualifications include BA Eng Lang. & Lit. (Hons. HKBU), BA Music (Hons. HKBU), Edu Dip.(HKBU), HK EMB registered teacher, member of the US National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), LTCL (recital) in singing, ABRSM grade 8 Theory and Flute. She completed her master's degree in Voice Pedagogy and Performance at Westminster Choir College (USA) with Distinction. She was the winner of the Students Audition (Eastern Region) held by the NATS in 2015, and of the Special Operatic Aria Prize in Hong Kong International Open Vocal Competition in 2017. Earlier, she has sung solo in the Spoleto Festival USA 2015 for the Bach's St. Matthew's Passion Production.

Cheuk-yee has sung the chorus soprano voice in HKAF2017 Dream of the Red Chamber, Cantabile Hong Kong, Cantoria Hong Kong, The Learners Chorus, SingFest Hong Kong Choral Projects, HKBU University Choir, HKBU Christian Choir, MusiCall, and in the choirs of Hong Kong Chinese Church of Christ (HKCCC). From 2014 to 2016, she was a member of the Westminster Choir and the Westminster Symphonic Choir. Therefore, valuable experiences were gained when performing with Diana Damrau, the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic and Philadelphia Philharmonic. Apart from singing in choirs, she has been the conductor of the teens’ choir of the Diamond Lutheran Church, and the associate conductor of HKBU Christian Choir. She was the music ministry instructor of HKCCC (2010-2013), and flute teacher of schools. Recently, she has been mostly teaching private and is frequently invited to judge inter-schools choral festival or singing competitions.

 

Cheuk-yee has been student of Prof. Margaret Cusack, Mr. Caleb Woo, Miss Katusha Tsui-Fraser and Miss Chan Siu Kwan. She also studied piano with Ms Grace Lau L.S.. Now, she is teacher of young and experienced singers, and has become instructors of various short-term vocal training courses for churches, music centers and youth centres. Her mission is to discover, encourage and enlighten other singers, just as what her mentors have accomplished on her.
